Summer Reading Club

The Summer Reading Club was launched with a flying superheroes theme. The ½ hour session was a great success with 62 children attending to collect reading packs. Captain Underpants was read and 6 volunteers took on a timed superman challenge of changing into a superman costume in a painted phone box.
The reading program was explained and lucky door prizes of movie tickets and santa stockings given out.
Event finished with cups of fruit salad and juice.

i am pleased to see i wasnt the only library person who had to get dressed up as a superhero this summer. i went dressed like that to school assemblies to promote reading club. i had a ball and its not over yet, our super reader is still making appearances at schools and the kids love it, except my own child who died a thousand deaths when she saw me at her school assembly in my outfit. way to go!!!

What a great way to launch your Summer Reading Club. We also had staff dressed up at our Superhero Club Party to celebrate the completion of the programme.
